Perot Systems Corporation is a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions to a broad range of clients. We are currently looking for a Medical Records Specialist to join our team in Huntington, WV.
Job Responsibilities:
Pulls all requested medical records promptly and facilitates accurate tracking of medical records;
Sorts, alphabetizes and files appropriately all single sheets and medical records daily.
Performs quality assurance checks on medical records.
Assists in copying medical records daily as requested.
Prepares medical records to be copied by outside copying service, if applicable.
Requests medical records from other health care provider’s offices and/or institutions when needed.
Opens and directs incoming mail, filing as necessary.
Answers and directs telephone inquiries in regards to medical records.
Destroys inactive records following established procedures for retention and destruction.
Uses spare time to assist in work-related activities such as preparing new charts.
Possesses the knowledge and understanding of state and federal regulations on how to handle medical record requests.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested
Required skills:
- Accurate and efficient typing and data entry skills
- Ability to stand, reach, bend and squat repeatedly during course of day
- Ability to perform tasks requiring occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
- Works independently, in a safe and appropriate manner
- Demonstrates both problem-solving and problem prevention skills
- Strong time management skills
- Works carefully and precisely, with a strong attention to detail
- Restock and maintain assigned work station and equipment in a neat and orderly fashion
- Facilitate location of records, reports or other significant information or request by the physicians
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Desired Skills:- Previous experience in a physician / medical front office
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Accurate and efficient typing and data entry skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
Minimum Educational Requirements:- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
